Temporomandibular Joint Disorder (TMJ)

A painful jaw when you chew, open the mouth wide or just pain with chewing may mean you have TMJ Temporomandibular Joint Disorder.

A number of Signs that may be Present:

-Clicking or grinding sounds when opening or closing the mouth

-Jaw locks or has limited ability to open fully

- Headaches, dizziness, hearing difficulties

- sharp pains radiating into the neck, face or shoulders

Causes of TMJ

-stress, posture, chewing habits

-Degenerative joint cahnges in the TMJ

-Muscular conditions and tissue fascia

Treatment

Typical treatment involves, artificial splints, surgery, medications, physical therapy, massage and exercises

Through many years of treating TMJ, Dr Fox has found when the neck or cervical spine is not properly aligned, functional and balanced TMJ is very prominent. when this spinal condition is resolved 9 out of 10 TMJ conditions completely clear up and all the side symptoms that have been going along with the TMJ condition. This is an example of getting to the root cause of a problem not just artificially covering it up with splints and medications or surgeries.
